St. Louise de Marillac
St. Louise de Marillac was a remarkable woman. She was known for her open heart for the poor; she made caring for the homeless, the hungry, and orphans who filled the streets of Paris her life’s mission. Although she held many titles over the course of her life and into eternity: a wife, a mother, a teacher, a social worker, a saint, it was as the foundress of the Daughters of Charity that carries special meaning for Maryvale and those we serve.
Today, St. Louise’s commitment is reflected internationally and at Maryvale which was founded by the Daughters of Charity in 1856 as the Los Angeles Orphan Asylum.
Eternally grateful to St. Louise, Maryvale has established the St. Louise de Marillac Society, honoring her and those who have joined her in this legacy to help those in need.
Join St. Louise’s Work
The St. Louise de Marillac Society was created to honor St. Louise and those who have committed to make a planned gift to Maryvale. If you feel strongly about Maryvale's work and would like to join with other supporters who share your values, we hope you'll consider becoming a member.
Bequests from a will or trust are the most common way to make a lasting gift to Maryvale. However, we have many options and will work with you to find the perfect fit to find a charitable plan that lets you provide for your family and create your legacy for Maryvale and those we serve. Your gift will be completely confidential.
